Is Chicken Plus Halal?

Yes and No

Some of our stores source certified Halal chicken from a local supplier and we hold Halal certificates provided by them.

As of 2026, Halal-certified chicken is available at the following Chicken Plus locations in Ontario: 

• Waterloo

• Riverdale

• Vaughan

• London

However, it’s important to clarify that Chicken Plus is NOT a Halal restaurant. We are a Korean Fried Chicken restaurant, and Halal-certified chicken is available at select stores only.

What Does Our Food Preparation Process Look Like?

We understand that our customers may have questions about how our chicken is prepared and cooked. In our kitchens, we prep and cook the chicken separately according to our store procedures.

All chickens go into our main fryer, and pork and beef (used for premium fries) are pre-portioned and cooked on a frying pan on a gas stove (not in the fryer), separately per order.

What About Our Sauces and Seasonings?

This is another important point to clarify. Our chicken sauces and seasoning powders are imported from Korea, and they are not Halal-certified products. Also, some of the other ingredients and products we use may also not be Halal-certified. Because of this, even when a store uses Halal-certified chicken, we do NOT consider Chicken Plus to be a Halal restaurant.

Everyone has their own standards and preferences, so we always advise our customers to use their own discretion when deciding whether to eat at Chicken Plus.
